Scouts sign Friendship Charter

Mayor Zvonimir Mrsic attended the signing of Scout Friendship Charter by the Scout Unit „Bijeli javor“ („White Maple") of Koprivnica and Scout Club „Javor“ ("Maple“of Osijek.

Friendship between the two scout units began at the Croatian Scout Festival held in Fuzine in July 2001.Since then, the two scout group have organized several mutual encounters .

Based on these mutual activities, the idea of consolidating the nine-year friendship by signing the Friednship Charter was first put forward at the celebration of 10th anniversary of the Scouts Unit „Bijeli javor“.

The Mayor congratulated scouts on signing the Friendship Charter and expressed his hopes in the continuous fruitful cooperation of the two scout units. He urged scouts to work together on the preservation of natural values of the Drava river, one of the last free-flowing rivers in Europe, rich in biodiversity. This is the obligation of two scout units, both bearing the name of the maple tree, a part of Drava natural landscape. After the official signing of the Charter, the scouts traditionally exchanged sets of signal flags and spent the rest of the encounter visiting historical and tourist sights of Koprivnica.
