Presentation of Culturevive II project and the Renaissance Festival program

On Wednesday, 24 August, Koprivnica Tourist Board held a press conference on Koprivnica city walls. The conference theme was the presentation of the project Culturevive II and presentation of the Renaissance Festival which will be held from 01 to 05 September in Koprivnica.

The press conference was attended by Mayor Zvonimir Mrsic, who expressed his satisfaction with the opening of the project Culturevive II, adding that this is a sign that the project Culturevive was well implemented and successfully completed.

We can be pleased that in this cross-border project of three partners, two of whom are from Croatia and one from Hungary, managed to do a project which can serve as an example in Croatia, but which also serves as an example of good practice throughout the European Union. – said the mayor, Zvonimir Mršić.

Project Partners of Culturevive II are the National Association of Arts County Zala from Hungary, Koprivnica Tourist Board and the Association "Međimurske roke" from Čakovec, and the total project budget amounts to EUR 95,767.71. The aim of the new project is to preserve cultural traditions and sustainable development in the project area, in the counties of Zala, Međimurje and Koprivnica-Križevci; reinforcement of cultural identity, the development of cultural tourism, the continued cross-border co-operation from the first project and expansion; offer traditional programs to expand old crafts, customs and other valuables with new elements.

As for the Renaissance festival director of the Tourist Board of the City of Koprivnica Renato Labazan said that this year Museum of the City of Koprivnica is also included in the program and it will open the exhibition "The old skills and knowledge: Barrel Crafts in Koprivnica", as an exceptional attraction in the museum, the construction of a medieval furnace for melting iron will also be presented.

In the Franciscan monastery, the incunabula of 1492 and several medical practicums from the 16 century will be displayed for the first time so that visitors could see how the books from this period look.

Tourist board will present in this years Renaissance Festival crafts that are almost gone and there are none left anywhere in Croatia, namely sitar and medieval printer. 

As part of the Renaissance Festival, Carlsberg Croatia organizes this year the Day of open doors on Saturday 3 September at 12:00 hours. In order for getting the Open Day and the Renaissance Festival closer to guests from other towns, Carlsberg Croatia organizes free Renaissance Pan train from Zagreb and a free bus from Varazdin.

This year, 20 groups of knights from all parts of Croatia as well as from Italy, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary will participate on the Renaissance Festival.

In addition to the project Culturevive II, Renaissance Festival is also financially supported by the project Pannonian pallet 2 which is carried out in cooperation of the City of Koprivnica and the city of Kaposvar.

Simultaneously with the Renaissance Festival, Rocklive festival on campus, in the city of Koprivnica is also held and besides that transportation will be organized which will transport visitors between the two events, from the campus to the city walls and back.

Another novelty is that in the area of ​​the Renaissance Festival and Rocklive Festival citizens will be given free internet access.

The arrival of 29 campers from Slovenia, which will stay in Koprivnica from Monday to Sunday, was announced and they will visit the Renaissance Festival and Rocklive Festival activities stay.
